Meet Okaidja Afroso!

Okaidja will be at Stafford all this week teaching second graders African drumming, dancing, singing and storytelling as our artist-in-residence. Okaidja is from the country of Ghana in west Africa. He will tell us the stories of Anansi The Spider which originate in Ghana. We will also learn a little “Ga” which is the language spoken there.

Our Africa Bridge Reading Challenge ends today. We will all bring in the money we raised, and on Friday we will find out the total we have for the students at Kisondela Secondary School in Tanzania. This second-grade reading challenge is a service-learning project we do each year. This year our donations will go toward building desks for the students.

We will celebrate the end of our challenge with a special performance led by The Africa Bridge Kid’s Team and Okaidja. The performance is this Friday, May 4th from 8:00-9:00 in the MPR. We will invite our parents to come and watch us perform.
